Saw a weird finish on a ceiling at a hotel in Phoenix

Honestly, I was staying at this hotel in Phoenix last week for a family thing. I couldn't stop looking at the ceiling in the lobby. It had this super smooth, almost glossy finish, but it was on a big, flat ceiling with no texture at all. It looked like it was painted with something really thick. I've been doing this for a while and I've never seen a finish like that on drywall in a commercial space. It made me wonder what they used for the final coat and how they got it so even without any roller marks. I'm guessing it was sprayed, but the sheen was so high it almost looked wet. Has anyone else run into a finish like that and know what product they might have used?

Is it really that big of a deal? A lot of high-end places use sprayed lacquer or a high-gloss enamel for a modern look. It's just paint, not some magic trick.

Read an article a while back about how the prep work and skill involved in spraying lacquer is actually the magic trick. It's not just paint in a can, it's about getting a perfect, even coat without runs or dust. The difference between a DIY job and a pro finish is pretty huge up close. That high gloss shows every single flaw if it's not done right.
