Rant: My new cordless drywall gun gave out on a big ceiling job

I was finishing a basement in Springfield last Thursday when my brand new cordless screw gun just stopped driving screws halfway through the day. I had to run to the truck for my old corded one and lost almost an hour. Has anyone else had a new tool fail that fast on a simple job?

Wait, are you saying it was literally fresh out of the box and just died mid-use? Cause I feel like there's a difference between "brand new" from the store and maybe your buddy's "lightly used" idea of new. Ive seen guys call a drill "new" after they've had it for a month and used it on three different jobs, thats not new thats just dirty. Either way its a bummer when any tool craps out like that, but if it was actually unused straight from the box Id be bringing that thing right back to the store for a swap.

Man, that's the worst feeling. I used to be all in on the newest cordless stuff, but having a drill die on a ceiling job like that would make me question everything. Now my old corded backup stays in the truck no matter what, because you just can't trust that a fresh battery will save you. It's a hassle, but at least the corded ones always turn over.
