I was cutting all my drywall with a utility knife until a guy in Boise asked why I didn't use a saw
He saw me scoring and snapping a 12-foot sheet for a ceiling and said his crew switched to a drywall saw for everything but straight cuts years ago. I tried it on a tricky angle around a duct and it was way faster with less dust. Do you think a knife is still the best tool for most cuts, or is a saw better for anything not a simple straight line?

Why would you make more dust with a saw?

I used to think that too, but this changed my mind.

My uncle swore by a jab saw for years. He'd cut out outlet boxes with it, said the control was way better than a knife for those tight spots. Always had less blowout on the back paper too.
