Had a homeowner in Cincinnati ask me if I could 'just paint over the tape' on a fresh seam.
This was last spring on a full basement finish. I'd just finished taping and bedding the first coat, and the guy walks in, squints at the wall, and points at the tape lines. He goes, 'Looks a bit bumpy. Can't we just roll a thick coat of paint over that to smooth it out?' I had to explain the whole process of mud, sand, repeat. He seemed genuinely surprised it wasn't a one-step deal. What's the most basic thing about our job you've ever had to explain to a client?
