Debate: is that $200 automatic taper really worth it or just a gimmick?

I dropped $220 on a tape-and-banjo tool last month hoping it would speed up my flat work. First week it saved me maybe an hour, but the compound kept drying out in the hopper and I spent more time cleaning it. Has anyone else had mixed luck with these things or am I just using it wrong?

Ha, yep. Same thing happened with mine. Constant clogging drove me nuts.

Ngl, I gotta push back on this a bit. Are we really sure it's the grinder's fault and not what we're putting down it? My old unit was constantly jamming up until I stopped treating it like a garbage disposal and stopped sending eggshells and coffee grounds through it. Once I switched to just soft scraps and ran cold water before and after, that thing went years without a single clog. Honestly, might be worth checking the drain line slope too cause sometimes it's just poor installation doing the dirty work.
