Choosing between a 4-foot and 6-foot mud pan for a cathedral ceiling job
I was working on a big cathedral ceiling in a new house, about 20 feet up on stilts. The debate was whether to use my normal 4-foot pan or rent a 6-foot one for the long seams. I went with the 6-footer to try and lay down more mud in one pass. It was way heavier and a bit clumsy on the stilts, but it did cut down on refill trips. What's your go-to for high ceilings, the bigger pan or just more trips with a smaller one?

Honestly, that 6-foot pan on stilts sounds like an accident waiting to happen. The weight and balance up that high is no joke. I'd rather make more trips with the 4-footer than risk a nasty fall trying to handle too much mud at once. Safety's gotta come first, especially on a cathedral ceiling.

Safety talk gets overblown sometimes. A 6-foot pan is just a bigger tool, not a death trap if you know how to handle it. Seems like a personal comfort thing more than a hard rule.
