Bought a cheap drywall lift from Harbor Freight and it bent on the first 5/8 sheet
It was the Pittsburgh model, cost me $180. The arm just folded up when I tried to lift a ceiling board in a Phoenix garage. Some guys say you should always rent a pro lift for big jobs, others think any lift is fine if you're careful. What's your go-to for handling heavy sheets?

Tried to save a buck with a cheap lift once and ended up holding a 4x8 sheet like it was a surprise party gone wrong. Honestly, I just bribe a buddy with pizza and beer for heavy ceiling work now.

Rent the good one. Watched a cheap lift buckle under a sheet of 5/8 firecode, sounded like a gunshot. That Harbor Freight steel is just folded tin foil with a paint job. For walls, I muscle it up with a deadman prop. For any ceiling, it's worth the fifty bucks to get a lift that won't try to kill you.
