Am I the only one who stopped pre-filling nail holes on butt joints?
I spent 3 years dimpling every dang nail on butt joints until a 30-year veteran on a job site in Denver told me to just set the nails flush and let the mud do the work. Has anyone else noticed less cracking since they quit pre-filling?

Saw my buddy's drywall crack right down the butt joint line he'd pre-filled.

Felt that pain just looking at the picture. Had the same thing happen on my last house where I used the fancy mesh tape and everything, still split right down the seam. Pretty sure it's just bad luck with the weather or the studs moving, not the work.
