The day a foreman called me out for cutting my cable too short
I always trimmed my hydraulic cable right at the fitting because I thought it looked cleaner. Last month a foreman on a job down in Mobile watched me do it and said I was making it a pain for anyone who had to adjust later. Now I leave a few inches of slack, but old habits are hard to kill - do you guys trim tight or leave some wiggle room?

Man that reminds me of my buddy Dave on a crew in Biloxi... he used to cut his cables super tight too, thought it was the professional look. Then one time they had to swap out a fitting and he'd left no slack at all, so the whole line had to be replaced instead of just trimmed. Foreman was not happy, cost them an extra hour on the clock and a trip to the supply house. He still leaves a couple inches but you can tell it bugs him...

Oh man @riverp37, that's so my old coworker Carlos did that exact same thing with coax.
