That old timer in Galveston told me to run the pump at 70% speed on soft bottom.

I was digging a channel in Galveston Bay last month and this 60 year old guy named Pete insisted I dial the pump back to 70% speed even though the material was coming up easy. I figured he was just being cautious so I pushed it to 90% and ended up buring a seal in two hours. Has anyone else had a old hand's advice save them from a stupid move like that?

Had a guy on the Trinity tell me 60% keeps the sand from caving in and he was right.

Just because Pete got lucky once doesn't mean every old timer knows what's best for your boat.
