Switched from a 3-inch to a 4-inch suction hose on my cutterhead dredge

Everyone says the 3-inch is the sweet spot for maneuverability, but after a month on the Lake Erie project, the 4-inch hose moved 30% more material with zero clogging issues. Am I the only one who thinks we overvalue smaller lines for tight spots?

Switched to a lighter 4-inch hose, solved the bend problem for me.

Have you tried a stiffer hose that can handle the bend?

Sure, until you have to drag that 4-inch hose through a real tight bend. The extra material doesn't help if you're stuck for an hour.
