Spent $800 on a new laser level for the cutterhead and it was the best call I've made this year.

It cut my setup time in half on the last job in Mobile and the cut was dead straight, so who else has switched from old-school string lines?

How long did it take you to get used to trusting the laser over your old string line? I fought it for a week, always double-checking, but once you see that perfect line every single time, it's a game changer. The real win for me was on uneven ground where a string would sag or catch on something. Just make sure you keep the receiver clean, because a little mud on the sensor will throw it off and drive you nuts.

The hidden cost for me was the battery life on those old string line reels, zero. I was always buying new ones or dealing with a dead one right when I needed it. The laser just needs a charge every few days, and I keep a power bank in the truck just in case. It's one less thing to worry about running to the store for, which adds up over a month.
