Spent $400 on a used dredge cutterhead and it turned into a money pit

I bought a used cutterhead off Facebook Marketplace for $400 thinking I got a steal. Looked fine in the pics but after two days on the job the teeth started snapping off like crazy. Turns out the previous owner had it sitting in saltwater for months and the whole thing was corroded underneath the paint. Now I gotta spend another $200 on new teeth and maybe a full rebuild if the shaft is bent. Anyone else get burned by a "great deal" on used gear?

The only one who got burned here is the guy who sold you that cutterhead for $400. He probably knew it was junk and laughed all the way to the bank. $200 for new teeth is nothing compared to what a new one costs, plus you learned a valuable lesson about buying used equipment sight unseen. Saltwater corrosion is obvious if you take five seconds to scratch the paint with a key. Next time do your homework instead of blaming the seller for a deal that was too good to be true.
