Spent $120 on a high end pump and it clogged within a week
I bought a fancy sand pump from a supply house in Mobile, Alabama. It was supposed to handle heavy sediment better than my old one. First real job with it, pulling silt out of a drainage ditch, and it clogged up solid on a piece of debris. I’m back to using my old standby pump that cost half as much. Has anyone else had trouble with these newer pumps that claim they’re built for tough material?

That pump probably saw that debris and said "nah, I'm too fancy for this." I swear some of these "heavy duty" pumps are designed for Instagram photoshoots, not actual ditches. A twig or a rock shows up and the whole thing just gives up like a teenager asked to do chores. Meanwhile my beat up old pump has swallowed gravel, leaves, and probably a small animal without missing a beat. $120 for a paperweight that's harder to clean than it is to replace.

Honestly it's just a pump, not a life or death situation. If it clogs up you take it apart and clean it, that's how pumps work. People act like their ditch pump needs to survive a nuclear blast.
