Ignored a vibration for 2 hours on the Mississippi and paid for it
I was running a cutterhead near Baton Rouge last summer and felt a weird rumble in the ladder around 3 PM. Everyone said it was just sandy bottom chatter, so I kept digging. Turned out a bearing was eating itself alive inside the cutter motor, and by the time I shut down, I had a $4,200 repair bill and lost a full shift. Has anyone else fought the urge to stop and check something that felt off?
