Figured out a better way to clear a clogged cutter suction head without diving
Been fighting with blockages on our Ellicott series 270 for months down on the Missouri River near Kansas City. Tried reversing the flow and banging on the housing but nothing worked until I ran a high-pressure water jet from the discharge side for 90 seconds. Anyone else found a quick trick for unclogging without pulling the whole head apart?

Have you tried running a cutter rotation in reverse while flushing?

Why would anyone run a cutter rotation in reverse while flushing? That goes against standard procedure with most rigs I've worked on. Running it backwards just risks jamming the cutter or blowing debris back into the feed, @nathanbennett.
