Debated between a cable hoist and a manual winch for my swing ladder setup - picked the hoist after 3 months of back pain

I was running a small pond cleanup job outside Austin and kept tweaking my shoulder hauling that 60 lb swing ladder up by hand every 15 minutes. Looked at a cable hoist for $180 versus a manual winch for $60 at the local supply shop. Went with the hoist because I figured the extra cost beats a doctor visit, and honestly it paid off by day two. Setup took maybe 20 minutes on the first try, and now I can reposition without stopping for a breather. Has anyone else tried rigging a pulley system for ladder work or just stuck with the winch?

Blew out my back changing a lightbulb last month so yeah I feel you on the doctor visit math. Glad the hoist worked out, might have to copy that idea.

The "doctor visit math" is solid. Funny how spending a little money upfront usually ends up being way cheaper than ignoring your body's warning signs.
