Spent $250 on a digital angle finder and it totally saved my butt on a curved ceiling job last week

$250 for a digital angle finder? That seems like a lot for something that just tells you an angle. I get that curved ceilings can be tricky, but a basic protractor and a little math probably would have done the same job for ten bucks. Maybe the digital feature is nice for speed, but I've never run into a situation where a few degrees off made or broke a whole project. Sounds like the tool did its job, but I'm not convinced it was worth that much money.

Is it really that big of a deal if your trim is off by a degree or two? I've hung crown molding and baseboards for years with just a cheap speed square and my eyeballs. If you're off by a tiny bit on a curved ceiling, nobody is gonna walk in and pull out a laser level to call you out. Seems like overkill for something that's mostly just visual anyway.
