Rant: I used to think you could eyeball a 1/4" tolerance on a foundation plan
My old boss in Tampa would just sketch it in, but after three callbacks for settling cracks, I started using a proper scale ruler for everything. Anyone else have a boss who fought you on using the right tools?

That "eyeball it" attitude is everywhere now. Feels like we're just skipping the basics to save five minutes.

Remember the human cost later on. Those settling cracks aren't just callbacks, they're someone's home getting damaged. That boss saved five minutes of drawing time but created weeks of stress for the homeowner.

Man, that's rough. So when you finally started using the scale ruler, did your boss actually give you a hard time about it? Like, did he see it as a waste of time or just unnecessary? I've seen guys get weirdly attached to their old, fast ways even when it's clearly causing problems down the line.
