Old school drafter told me my layers were a mess, he was right about the whole thing
I showed my first big CAD project to a guy who's been drafting since the 80s. He looked at my layer names and said 'Son, are you naming these after your cats?' They were all named things like 'Layer 1' and 'stuff here.' He made me rename everything to a standard like A-ANNO-DIMS and I fought it for a day. After 3 weeks of using that system I can actually find things without searching for 10 minutes. Has anyone else had to completely redo their layer setup after someone called them out?

Everyone learns this lesson the hard way. Layer naming is boring but it saves so much time. Old school guys are annoying but usually right.

ben436 nailed it, "old school guys are annoying but usually right." My buddy Kyle fought his senior drafter for a whole week because he had layers named "random crap" and "floor plan v2." After getting forced to use A-WALL and A-DOOR, he told me he found a wall layer in like 5 seconds instead of scrolling through 40 unnamed ones. He finally admitted the old man was right but still won't say it to his face.
