Am I the only one who thinks the 'always use a 2H pencil' rule is overrated?
I was working on a tight deadline for a set of foundation plans in Boston, and my last 2H snapped right as I was detailing a critical elevation. I grabbed a standard HB from my bag, finished the linework, and the scans came out perfectly clear for the client review. Has anyone else had a tool 'rule' fail them at a bad time?

Snapping a 2H at the worst possible moment is basically a rite of passage. @matthewperry has a point about hand pressure, but when you're racing the clock, you just need a pencil that works. My old boss used to freak out if he saw anything softer than a 3H, but his prints looked like ghosts. Sometimes the rules are just there to give managers something to talk about.

Read an article once that said the lead grade matters less than a consistent hand pressure, right?
