Warning: I thought those plastic wall anchors were a total scam
Back when I was first renting in college, I used to just screw stuff into drywall and hope it held. I saw those little plastic anchors in the hardware aisle and figured they were a waste of money. Then a heavy shelf I put up fell and left a huge hole. A friend showed me how to use a basic #8 anchor from the brand E-Z Ancor, and it held a 15-pound mirror for three years without a wobble. It was such a simple fix that I felt dumb for avoiding it. What's the one basic repair thing you all put off learning for way too long?

My buddy’s apartment lease had a $200 fine for any drywall damage over a quarter size. That got me learning about anchors real fast.

Landlords are wild with those fees. Good anchors are a lifesaver.

Dude tell me about it. My last apartment charged me $150 for a single screw hole in the bathroom. Said it was "excessive damage." Total joke. Now I swear by those toggle bolts. They hold way better and don't leave those big craters when you take them out. Learned that lesson the hard way after patching too many holes.
