Showerthought: I fixed a noisy garage door for under $20 and it's been quiet for months

Honestly, my garage door was making this awful grinding sound every time it opened. I thought the whole opener was going out. Tbh, I watched a few videos and saw a tip about the nylon rollers on the track. I bought a tube of white lithium grease for about $7 and spent 15 minutes cleaning the old gunk off the rollers and applying it. That was like 4 months ago and it's been smooth and silent ever since. Has anyone else had a simple lube job fix what seemed like a major problem?

Only $7 for the grease?

That's actually a fair price for a quality product. You get what you pay for with this stuff, and it lasts a long time. Cheap grease just makes a mess and doesn't work as well.

Seven dollars is actually a steal compared to what I was seeing at the auto parts store last week where they wanted fifteen for the same size tube. You're totally right that cheap stuff just makes a greasy mess and doesn't hold up for more than a few weeks. I've been using this brand for years now and it's the only thing that keeps my trailer hitch from squeaking all season long. It's one of those things where you either pay a little more upfront or you end up buying replacements every few months and wasting time cleaning up the cheap goop. I feel like a lot of people don't realize that quality grease actually saves money in the long run because it stays put and does its job.
