Showerthought: Fixed my 50th toaster today and that’s way more than I expected
I started picking up broken toasters from garage sales about three years ago. Just a weird little hobby, you know. I don't even charge people for it, I just like seeing if I can get them going again. Yesterday I fixed one from 1987 with a stuck lever and a melted wire. When I counted them up later I realized I hit exactly 50 toasters that I've repaired. That number surprised me because I never thought I'd do that many. Most of them just need a new heating element or a good cleaning inside. I keep wondering if there's a point where you've fixed too many of the same thing. Has anyone else hit a random number with their repairs and just stopped to think about it?

It's funny how we end up becoming experts in something we never planned on. I've noticed this with people who start fixing stuff around the house like old lamps or clocks. Once you fix a few, you start seeing the same problems over and over. It's like the world is just full of these little patterns nobody talks about. 50 toasters sounds crazy now but give it another year and you'll probably be at 100 without even realizing it.

That pattern recognition is the whole secret. Once you fix 50 toasters you realize almost every problem is either a loose wire, a dead switch, or burnt grease.
