Shoutout to the guy at the hardware store who asked about my pipe dope

Honestly, I've been using that white teflon tape on every threaded connection for years. He saw my basket and asked if I was working on gas lines, and when I said no, just water, he told me I should switch to pipe dope for anything over 1/2 inch. The seal is way better and it won't shred. Anyone else make this switch and notice a difference?

My plumber uncle swears by the blue monster paste for everything.

Your uncle must have a very clean toolbox if one product does it all. I picture him trying to fix a leaky faucet and then using the leftover paste on a sandwich.
