My kitchen faucet rebuild turned into a 6 hour ordeal

I tried swapping a $15 cartridge in my Moen faucet and it took all afternoon because the old one was stuck with mineral buildup. Has anyone else had to chisel one of these things out?

Try soaking it in white vinegar first next time, loosens the buildup.

@hugo50 do you soak it for a specific amount of time or just until it looks clean?

Used to think you just soak it until it looks clean but @hugo50 changed my mind on that. Tried the white vinegar trick on a stained coffee carafe and let it sit for about 20 minutes, came out like new. Now I actually time it instead of eyeballing it, makes a difference with the crusty buildup.
