My brother-in-law just used wood glue on a stripped screw hole in a metal bracket and called it a day.

I keep seeing people treat every stripped thread like it's a woodworking problem, but that fix won't hold any real weight and you'll be back in there with a helicoil in a week, so what's the best permanent fix you've found for small metal threads?

Wasn't there a trick about using a bit of steel wool with the new screw? I saw that somewhere... seems like it would bite better than glue for sure.

Seems like everyone's trying to fix things with the wrong tools these days.
