Finally fixed a leaky toilet flapper after 3 tries

My toilet in the basement was running nonstop and I kept swapping flappers from Home Depot. Turns out the chain was too long and getting caught under the flap. Took me maybe 20 minutes once I actually looked at how it was sitting in there. Has anyone else had a simple fix hide from them for way too long?

Oh man, I did the exact same thing with my kitchen faucet. Kept buying new cartridges thinking it was worn out, but the handle just needed to be tightened a quarter turn. Felt like an idiot when I finally noticed.

Did you at least save the old cartridges for a "just in case" drawer? Now you've got a spare parts hoard like the rest of us.
