Bought a $50 digital level off Amazon and it was off by a full degree out of the box
Found out after I installed a whole shelf system in my garage that leaned slightly right, has anyone else had cheap digital tools give bad readings right from the start?

A $50 digital level should be accurate. Sounds like user error honestly.

Oh man, I gotta disagree a bit here. In my experience, price has nothing to do with accuracy on the cheap end of the market. Ive seen $20 levels hold true for months and $50 ones drift after a single drop in the truck. @sethc12 is kind of right about cheap tools being a gamble, but its more about quality control these days than the price tag itself. A $50 level might have a nice screen and fancy buttons but still use a cheap sensor chip thats only good for +/- 0.1 degree at best. Plus, manufacturers seem to cut corners on calibration at the factory across the board now, not just on bargain bins. Take this with a grain of salt, but Id trust a simple bubble level from a brand youve heard of over most digital ones under $100. Your mileage may vary, but thats just what Ive seen on job sites for the last 15 years.
