Appreciation post: Finally got my garage fridge running right after 3 failed attempts

I kept trying to fix the frost build-up in my 12 year old Kenmore by just defrosting it and hoping for the best. Took me three times to realize the door seal was letting in humid air. I swapped out the gasket for $27 from an appliance parts shop on Main Street and it's been running perfect for two weeks now. Anyone else ever waste time treating the symptom instead of the actual problem?

Laser thermometer saved me too, found the leak in five minutes.

Picked up a cheap laser thermometer at Harbor Freight and found the warm spots along the door seal instantly. Replaced the gasket and never looked back, sometimes the simple fix is the right one.
