Painted a room without enough primer, big mistake
Slapped one coat of primer on dark green walls, then two coats of off-white paint. The green still bleeds through in spots, and now I'm looking at a third coat of paint because I was impatient. Anyone else deal with coverage issues from skimping on prep work?

Dude I used to be the exact same way, always figured primer was just a money grab. But then I tried to paint over this dark navy blue wall with just two coats of white and it looked like a faded trucker hat afterwards. Had to sand the whole thing down and start over which was like 4 extra hours of work. Primer is now a non-negotiable for me, learned that lesson the hard way like you.

Honestly I read somewhere that primer is basically just cheap insurance and that stuck with me. It's like paying a little now to save a lot later. And @johnson.ryan is totally right about the faded trucker hat look, that's exactly what happens when you cut corners. Tbh I think people don't realize how much the old color can bleed through even after multiple coats of paint. I've seen guys spend more money on extra paint than they would have on a simple gallon of primer. Ngl that green coming through must be frustrating but at least now you know for next time.
