Vent: spent 4 hours trying to fix a black screen before realizing my monitor was unplugged

I was losing my mind yesterday. PC boots up fine, fans spin, lights come on, but monitor stays black. Tried swapping GPUs, reseating RAM, clearing CMOS, the whole thing. Then I look down and see the power cable to my monitor got kicked loose behind the desk. Plugged it in and it worked instantly. I felt like such a dummy. Anyone else ever chase a ghost like that?

Next time duct tape the cable to the desk leg.

Keep a roll of tape right in the desk drawer so you never have to search for it.
