Swapped my thermal paste from that cheap stuff to Arctic MX-6 and wow what a difference
I was running an old Ryzen 2600 with stock paste for like 2 years and my temps were hitting 85C under load. Last week I finally cleaned it off and put on some Arctic MX-6 I got for $8. Now my max temps dropped to 68C and my fans don't sound like a jet engine anymore. Has anyone else seen that big of a jump just from changing paste?

Thermal paste is one of those things people put off because it feels like a minor detail, but it's really about surface contact and heat transfer that's been slowly getting worse for years. It reminds me of how people don't change their furnace filters until the system starts struggling and making noise, but a simple swap can fix everything. A little maintenance goes a long way when you finally get around to doing the basics right.
