Finished my first scratch build case from an old filing cabinet today
My neighbor said "you're just gonna burn your house down" when I told him I was cutting a metal drawer for airflow, but I painted everything with high-temp enamel and my temps dropped 12 degrees compared to my old plastic case. Anyone else use weird found objects for their builds?

Yeah "keep a fire extinguisher nearby" is basically my build process motto at this point.

High temp enamel doesn't magically make a metal drawer safe when you're running a 300 watt PSU inside it. Grounding issues alone could fry your whole rig if that thing isn't bonded right. I'd still keep a fire extinguisher nearby just in case.
