Cutting a side panel with a jigsaw worked better than I expected

Everyone online said you need a dremel or a nibbler to cut acrylic cleanly. I tried using a jigsaw with a fine tooth blade on my old Corsair case last weekend. I taped the cut line with painter's tape and went slow on low speed. The edges came out straight with just a little sanding needed. Has anyone else found a tool that goes against the common advice?

...Not just with tools either, same thing happens with all kinds of stuff. Like people swear you need some expensive gadget for cooking or fixing your car, but half the time the cheap simple way works fine if you just take your time and aren't in a hurry. I think a lot of the "common advice" is just people repeating what they heard without trying it themselves. You end up with a whole crowd of folks who never actually tested the dumb method because they were told not to. So good on you for ignoring them and just giving it a shot.

Oh man @palmer.henry you hit the nail on the head. I remember when everyone told me I needed a $200 chef's knife to chop veggies properly. I got a $15 one from the grocery store, kept it sharp with a basic stone, and it works great for years now. Same with car stuff - people swear you need a fancy scan tool to diagnose engine problems, but a paperclip and a YouTube video can pull codes on most older cars. It's wild how quick folks are to spend money before even trying the simple way.
