Went back and forth between a cooling pad and a stand for my old HP. Picked the stand.

My laptop used to hit 95C just browsing. Tried a $20 cooling pad from Best Buy, made a tiny difference. Buddy said try just lifting the back. Used two bottle caps, dropped 10C. Can't believe I spent money on the pad first. Anyone else find simpler solutions work better?

Tarab54 I tried the book trick too but my paperback copies of Harry Potter started to slide around. Ended up using two empty pill bottles from an old vitamin container. What do you use for the non slip part? I found the bottle caps kept sliding on my desk so I had to put a rubber band around each one. You ever have that problem or did yours just stay put?

Oh man, the bottle cap thing is genius. I had the same deal with my old Dell, it would hit 90C just running Firefox. I bought one of those fancy pads with fans and it barely did anything. Then I propped it up on a couple of old paperback books and it dropped like 8 degrees. It's crazy how just getting airflow underneath does way more than a cheap fan ever could.
