Tried putting my laptop on a wire baking rack instead of a cooling pad

I grabbed a $3 wire cooling rack from Goodwill and propped my laptop on it, and my temps actually dropped 8 degrees compared to my $40 cooling pad. Has anyone else gotten better results from random kitchen stuff than actual laptop coolers?

That wire rack is just luck, cooling pads are actually engineered for proper airflow.
