PSA: Those $10 laptop cooler pads from Amazon are a joke
I saw a guy on YouTube testing like 6 different cheap cooling pads with a thermal camera and his results were eye opening. My own $12 pad with the blue LEDs was barely dropping temps 2 degrees on my old Dell. The fans are so weak they just push hot air right back under the laptop. I grabbed a cheap wire rack from Walmart for $8 and propped my laptop on it with a box fan blowing across the desk. Dropped my CPU temps 15 degrees on a hot summer day. Has anyone else ditched those overpriced pads for a janky setup that actually works?

YES! My $15 pad was useless. I use a wire rack and a desk fan now. Way better!

Wait, are you saying that $15 cooling pad was actually a scam? Because same here, honestly. I tried that one with the blue fans and my laptop still felt like it was melting. @faithjones you totally get it - the wire rack trick is genius. I just grabbed one from the kitchen and propped my laptop on it with a desk fan blowing right underneath. My battery even stopped draining so fast during gaming. Ngl, I wish I switched to this setup way sooner.
