My dad's solution for a hot laptop was just to put it in the freezer
Honestly, my laptop was hitting 95°C while playing Valheim last summer, so I asked my dad for help. He dead serious told me to just wrap it in a towel and toss it in the freezer for 10 minutes. Ngl, I actually tried it and the thing came out covered in condensation and wouldn't even boot up for like 2 hours. Took me a whole day to dry it out with a hairdryer. Has anyone else gotten terrible advice from an older relative who thinks they know computers?

Hold up, did your dad think laptops work like popsicles or something? I gotta ask, was he actually trying to help or was he just messing with you to see if you'd fall for it?

My dad once tried to "fix" a slow computer by putting it in the freezer for an hour. He was dead serious too, said heat was the problem so cold should help. @the_val I think some folks just don't get that electronics and temperature extremes don't mix well. He meant well but yeah, definitely not a popsicle situation.
