Just realized those cheap foam laptop stands actually work

I always thought those $5 foam stands from Amazon were a joke until I saw a guy at my local coffee shop in Austin using one with his gaming laptop. He told me his temps dropped 10 degrees just from lifting it off the table for airflow. Has anyone else had good luck with something that simple?

Read somewhere that even a couple paperbacks under the back edge can drop temps by a good 5 degrees.

The cheap foam stands work because they fix a basic problem most people ignore. Almost every laptop has fans on the bottom, and setting it on a flat table blocks air from getting in. Same reason people put phone cases with air gaps on hot devices. It is one of those small fixes that makes a big difference for nearly zero cost. People overcomplicate cooling with fans and liquid stuff when just getting the thing off the table does the job. Kind of like how putting a book under a wobbly table leg fixes it better than buying a new table.
