Had to pick between a metal pan and a wooden stand for my laptop cooler

I went with the metal baking pan from Dollar Tree because it was $2 and I figured it would pull heat away better. Now my 6 year old Dell runs about 5 degrees cooler but it's so loud the pan vibrates against the desk. Anyone else run into noise issues with metal coolers?

Oh dude, my friend tried the same trick with a metal baking sheet and ended up having to wedge a folded napkin under one corner because the buzzing was driving her nuts lol. The temp drop was barely worth the noise.

Have you tried putting rubber bumpers or even just a piece of felt under the pan? In my experience, the vibration is what makes it loud, not the pan itself.
