Bought a $30 IKEA laptop stand and my temps dropped 12 degrees
I was using a thick paperback to prop up my laptop for months. My fans were running loud all the time. Picked up one of those cheap IKEA laptop stands last week for about $30. Just having the bottom completely open made a huge difference. Idle temps dropped from 52c to 40c and gaming went from 88c to 76c. Has anyone else had that kind of luck from just a simple raised stand?
That 12 degree drop is honestly amazing. I had a similar experience with a cheap stand from Amazon, my old laptop was basically cooking itself on my desk. It is wild how much something so simple can change your whole setup for the better.
Had a buddy who used a stack of old textbooks for years. Finally got a proper stand and said his laptop stopped sounding like a jet engine taking off. Said he wished he'd done it sooner lol.
