Tried to install a smart switch and now the light just hums

Wanted to put a smart switch in my kitchen. Followed the wiring diagram exactly. Turned the power back on and the light fixture just makes a low humming sound. No light. Checked everything twice. My buddy said it might be the wrong switch type for the load. Anyone know if a dimmer switch can cause this with LED bulbs? Need to fix it before my wife kills me.

My neighbor had the EXACT same thing happen with his dining room light. He bought a fancy dimmer switch but his LED bulbs were not the dimmable kind. That low hum was the bulbs basically fighting the switch all day. He had to swap out for dimmable LEDs and it fixed it right up. Your buddy might be onto something with the load type.

Totally feel you, felix_thomas73. Just tried to update a smart light bulb and it needed a 45 minute firmware install. For a light.
