Shoutout to the guy at the hardware store who saved my bathroom floor
I was trying to replace a cracked tile in my shower last Tuesday and chipped the subfloor with the chisel, creating a small hole near the drain. The guy at the Ace Hardware on 5th told me to mix up some quick-setting hydraulic cement to patch it before I laid the new tile, which actually worked perfectly. Has anyone else had to fix a messed up subfloor like that, or did I just get lucky?

Got lucky for sure. My attempt at that would have ended with a much bigger hole and a call to my insurance company.

My last DIY project cost me three new doors and a serious talk with my wife. I'm basically banned from using power tools now.

Man, that's rough. Three doors is a lot, I've been there with the whole power tool ban thing - my wife still brings up the time I tried to install a shelf and ended up taking out a chunk of the wall. @ivan211 is probably right about the insurance, some of us just have that luck with projects going sideways. Hope you get your tool privileges back eventually.
