My dad's advice about painting kitchen cabinets finally paid off

He told me to sand between every coat of primer and paint, even though it felt like overkill on our oak cabinets from the 80s. After 3 months of daily use, the finish on that one drawer I skipped is already chipping while the rest looks brand new. Anybody else have a family member's tip that turned out to be totally right?

Oh come on. That's just his opinion. I've painted plenty of cabinets and never sanded between coats. Still holding up fine after years. My mom's kitchen looks great and she just used a good bonding primer and some decent paint. That one drawer you skipped probably had a different issue - maybe grease or dirt you didn't clean off all the way. Sanding between every single coat is a waste of time for most people.

Read somewhere that pros sand between coats for a living though.
