Depends on the framing lumber though. @price.alice if you're using treated 2x6s, an inch and a half is the absolute MINIMUM you'd want. But for regular framing against a ledger board, I've seen plenty of guys use 2 inch screws and still have trouble with pullout.

Yeah, deck screws too short is a real problem. You need at least an inch and a half into the framing.
