Hot take: I used to piss away money on expensive paint rollers, now I just use the cheap foam ones
For years I was buying those fancy microfiber roller covers at $8 a pop for my living room repaints. About 6 months ago I grabbed a pack of 10 foam rollers for $4 at the hardware store on a whim. They apply paint way smoother with zero lint or fuzz left behind. Has anyone else swapped to foam and never looked back?

Oh wow, that's a bold move switching from microfiber to foam. I've always been worried foam would leave those thin streaks or not hold enough paint for big walls. How is the coverage compared to a quality microfiber roller when you're doing a full wall?

I saw a video from a painting contractor who tested foam against microfiber on a whole living room wall. He said foam gives a smoother finish with less nap texture but you gotta load it up more often because it holds less paint. For coverage, once it's on the wall, it's actually pretty even, just takes more trips to the tray. I'd say it's worth trying if you hate the stipple marks from microfiber.
