Changed my mind about spray foam insulation after helping my brother in his attic in Austin last July.

I always thought the DIY foam kits were a scam, too expensive for what they do. But my brother was redoing his 1920s bungalow in Austin and talked me into helping him foam his attic. It was 104 degrees outside and we were up there sweating, and he had this infrared thermometer. Before we sealed anything, the attic temp was like 135 degrees. After we sprayed the rakes and between the joists, it dropped to under 100 in about an hour. That convinced me. The air seal is way better than fiberglass because it fills every tiny crack. I still think the cleanup is a nightmare though, sticky foam gets everywhere. Has anyone else had good luck with the tiger claw foam guns or are the disposable cans fine for a small garage job?

Wait, do you actually find the tiger claw gun worth the hassle of cleaning it with acetone right after? Because my brother used a disposable can and yeah the foam was uneven but he just threw the whole thing away when he was done. I keep going back and forth on which route to take for my own garage project. The gun sounds nice but I feel like I'd screw up the cleanup or leave it too long and ruin the whole thing.

Those tiger claw guns are worth the money if you're doing more than one can. I borrowed one from a buddy for my garage and it cut the mess way down, you just have to clean it good with acetone right after or you're throwing it away.
