Three hours to fix a texture that took ten seconds to break
I was swapping out a ugly default sofa texture in Fallout 4 for a nicer one from a mod pack. Did the whole thing in Paint.net, saved it, loaded the game, and the sofa was just a bright pink square. Spent three hours digging through file paths, checking compression settings, and reinstalling the mod before I realized I saved it as a PNG instead of a DDS. Has anyone else wasted a whole evening on one dumb file format mistake?

Wait... isn't it actually PNG that usually makes the pink/purple texture thing, not DDS? I thought the game expects DDS and when you give it PNG it just gives up and shows that pink square. Blue is usually for skyrim lol. But yeah three hours on a file format is rough.

Ha! Oh man, I did almost the exact same thing with Skyrim like a year ago. Spent a whole Friday night trying to get a new texture for the Whiterun walls to show up properly. Turned out I saved it as a JPEG instead of a DDS too, and the game just threw up a solid bright blue checkerboard pattern. The worst part was I even checked the file extension twice and still convinced myself it was fine for like an hour. It's always the dumbest little thing that eats up your whole night, isn't it?
