Had to pick between a texture pack or just tweaking the lighting myself
Honestly I was modding Skyrim for like the 5th time and hit a wall with how dark the dungeons were. I had this choice: download a fancy 4K texture pack that would eat up my GPU, or just use an ENB preset that tweaks the gamma and shadows. I went with the ENB route since my laptop is from 2018 and can't handle much. Took about 20 minutes to install and test, and now the caves actually look moody instead of just black. Has anyone else found a lightweight mod that saves your hardware from choking?

Yo, did you try the ENB with the ambient lighting option turned down a bit? I feel you on the laptop struggle, I have a 2017 model and some of those 4K packs are straight up overkill. ENB presets are honestly the way to go for older hardware, they let you tweak the mood without tanking the framerate. I used one called "True Storms" that paired with a simple shadow fix and it made a huge difference in the crypts without eating my vram. Just gotta be careful with the bloom slider, too high and everything gets that washed out look.
